Discover Puertorican Smoke Food Truck

Tucked away along 2744 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, TN 37814, United States, Puertorican Smoke Food Truck is one of those hidden gems that locals can’t stop talking about. It’s more than just a food truck; it’s a slice of Puerto Rican culture on wheels. The first thing you notice as you pull up is the smoky aroma drifting through the air-slow-cooked meats and sizzling spices that instantly make you hungry.

I first stumbled upon this truck while driving through Morristown on a sunny afternoon, following the scent of barbecued pork that seemed to pull me off the highway. The friendly owners greeted me like an old friend, explaining that their recipes came straight from the heart of Puerto Rico, passed down through generations. The vibe was relaxed, family-oriented, and filled with the kind of warmth you rarely find in roadside dining.

The menu was a bold mix of traditional flavors and Southern smokehouse techniques. Think tender pernil, juicy pulled pork, and crispy tostones, all prepared with a smoky twist that sets this place apart. I ordered their signature smoked mofongo with slow-cooked pork, and it was a game-changer-comforting, savory, and rich with garlicky depth. According to a recent food trend analysis by the National Restaurant Association, fusion street food has seen a 32% rise in popularity over the past two years, and this food truck embodies exactly why. It blends authenticity with creativity in a way that keeps people coming back for more.

But the real secret lies in their process. The owner, Carlos, shared how they use a traditional Puerto Rican adobo rub combined with hickory wood smoke, marinating each cut of meat for hours before it hits the grill. The result? A melt-in-your-mouth experience that captures both Caribbean sunshine and Tennessee soul. Watching the team work was like witnessing an art form-every dish carefully plated, every garnish thoughtfully placed.

Over time, this spot has earned a loyal following. Locals post glowing reviews online, praising the generous portions, fair prices, and friendly service. One customer wrote that it reminded her of her abuela’s kitchen back home in San Juan. Another mentioned driving over 30 miles just to get their smoked chicken empanadas. Those kinds of reviews don’t come easy; they’re built on consistency and trust.

Even professional chefs in the region have taken notice. A culinary columnist from Southern Foodways Alliance once described this truck as “a bridge between island heritage and Appalachian hospitality.” That’s a perfect way to sum it up. It’s not just about eating-it’s about connecting cultures through flavor.

When it comes to finding great food, sometimes the best meals are served from the side of a truck, and this one proves it. The prices are fair, the portions are hearty, and every bite tells a story. Whether you’re craving smoky pork, plantains, or a taste of home, this place delivers with heart. And if you ever find yourself near Morristown, keep an eye out for the bright truck parked off Andrew Johnson Highway-you’ll smell it before you see it.

What stands out most is the community surrounding it. On weekends, families gather around picnic tables, music fills the air, and laughter mixes with the smell of smoked meat. It’s not just a quick lunch stop-it’s an experience. You can taste the passion, the heritage, and the craftsmanship in every dish. And in a world full of fast food, that kind of authenticity is worth savoring.

  • Bueno….well, where to start? Amazing! We had, al alcapurrias de yuca (12 out of 10) pinchos de puerco (pork skewers) 15 out of 10. White rice and beans 10 out of 10 and fried pork 8 out of 10. Overall well worth the trip all the way from Oakridge and being from Puerto Rico, I know a thing or two about the food being produced by Orlando the owner. If you are in the area or considering making the trip, you will not be disappointed.

  • WOWzer. Had no idea what Puerto Rican food tasted like, and was lucky enough to cross paths with this robust red school bus/food truck outside of Mossyback Distillery in Jeff city tonight. Truly a gem. The order took longer than most food trucks… and it was obvious why. Amazing flavors cooked to perfection!! Huge portions too, well worth the price. I had the 5 meat sandwich with plantain chips, and hubs had the cubed steak and rice, with macaroni salad. Sooooooo tasty Eating on the outside patio (after entering the red door) and enjoying a fantastic Moscow mule made for a wonderful date night
